Large-Volume Scanning

3D laser scanning

Digitization of your halls, industrial plants, monuments and facilities: Laser Scanning XXL

For 3D laser scanning in the large volume area, we use a mobile 3D phase difference laser scanner from Faro, type LS880 HE 40. The scanner scans up to 120,000 measuring points per second, it can record up to 28 million points per scan and has a linearity error of less than ±3mm at 20m. Several 3D laser scans can be combined to form a large object. Objects can be scanned up to a distance of 40 m (sphere diameter of the detection range: 80 m). The 10mW laser is harmless to the eye above a distance of 1 m, so it can be used in production halls or public buildings without stopping operations or public traffic. Measurements can be carried out in the scanned point clouds. The point clouds can also be read in and further processed using modern CAD programs. CAD models can be created from the point clouds (reverse engineering), or the scanned reality can be compared with CAD models (e.g. large cast components or collision investigations in plant engineering). All data required for the inventory can be recorded from the scanned data of a property, or the complete floor plan of the building can be created from the point clouds. 3D laser scanning can be used in a variety of ways due to its high speed and high measurement accuracy.

The LS 880 is particularly suitable for the following projects:
  • Architecture
  • Inventory of real estate
  • Plant construction (inventory, collision, investigation)
  • Civil engineering (bridges, facades)
  • Large cast parts
  • Monument ans sculpture surveying
  • Road construction
  • Landscape palanning
  • Tunnel construction
  • Boat building / crime scene documentation

With our large volume scan we transform your large objects into precise digital twins
